Get back to the workplace with Corporate Moves

With all the changes we’ve had to endure in the last year and a half, we know people and businesses are rethinking the future of their workspaces.

Physical distancing is here to stay for some time, as is flexible remote working. These new standards, along with a hybrid approach to work have facilitated the need for a lot of office space reconfiguration. As you head back to the office, it’s important to make sure your space is ready for your future workplace model.

Not sure where to start? Here are 5 tips for getting your office ready for a return to the workplace:

1. Make sure you have cleaning stations and personal storage space.

Many workplaces will be moving to a hybrid working model and will start using a desk booking policy. With this new ‘hot desk’ system, staff will need a place to safely store their personal or work items.

If you’re reducing your permanent seating arrangement, consider installing lockers so your staff can safely store belongings. Additionally, you’ll need cleaning stations in place so 1) staff can have easy access to sanitiser and 2) they’ll be able to clean off their desks at the end of each day.

2. Give your office some breathing space.

Your office might need some reconfiguration. Is it set up for distancing? Maybe you need to shift furniture around or increase/decrease the types of furniture you have?

For example, you might need more collaboration space that accommodates distancing and open working. Now’s the time to assess the layout of your office, and if you need help updating your space plan, give us a shout.

3. Ensure your furniture is fit for purpose.

Take a good look at the furniture you have in your office. Desks, tables, chairs, cupboards… all of it. Does it suit your new space requirements? If you need more of that collaboration space, do you need to get rid of some furniture and bring in something different?

We can help you reconfigure your workplace by shifting around the furniture you currently have. This is also a fantastic time to consider how you’ll source your different furniture and dispose of your old. By using a company like Recycle Scotland for your furniture needs, you’ll be making a sustainable choice and contributing to the Circular Economy.

4. Think about your office requirements.

Maybe this change in the working environment means you’re moving offices altogether. That’s a big change, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming.
